About

About Invent Kansas

Invent Kansas is an editorial resource covering invention, entrepreneurship, and small business development across the state. We cover SBIR/STTR funding, maker communities, intellectual property, and the people building new things in the heartland.

What we cover

We follow the parts of the Kansas invention scene that founders ask about most: non-dilutive funding through SBIR and STTR, the maker spaces and inventor groups that meet across the state, intellectual property basics, and the manufacturing base that turns a prototype into a product.

Who it is for

Invent Kansas is for the person with a product idea and a day job, the founder writing a first grant proposal, and the maker who wants to find the nearest laser cutter. We keep the writing plain and point you to the source whenever we can.

Where we work

Our coverage spans the state, with a focus on the hubs where activity concentrates: Wichita, Lawrence, Manhattan, Topeka, and the Kansas City metro. We have tracked invention and entrepreneurship in the heartland since 2016.
